5 Tips to Become a Never-Give-Up Person

All too often in life people end up stopping before they even succeed in meeting their goals. Whatever the reason might be, there is a way to get where you want to be in no time at all. It all starts by having the will and the attitude to never give up and keep on fighting. To help you along the way, there are a few simple things that you can do.

TIP 1. Push forward

The first step to reaching your goals is to stay alive. So long as you are still alive, you stand a chance at being able to do anything you want. No one can stop you from striving to do all of the things you want to do in life when you are alive and able to move about. The only time someone should be able to stop you from becoming the person you want to be is if you are no longer here. Don’t allow someone to talk you out of your dreams and aspirations. Take control and keep pushing forward to get where you want to be in life. It is only a matter of time.

TIP 2. Set your expectations a little lower

Oftentimes, people set their expectations so high that there is no way they can ever meet them. Most people who are successful aren’t successful overnight. It takes a lot of time and patience to get where you want to be. Most of the stories that you hear about someone making it big overnight are the result of good marketing tactics and nothing more. While some of the stories could be true, there is often more to it than what you are being told.

Don’t try to guess how someone became successful. Focus on doing what you need to in order to achieve your dreams and goals. Very few people will achieve success so quickly. If you expect to turn into an overnight sensation, you are going to wind up disappointing yourself and feeling even more depressed when things don’t turn out that way. Instead of setting yourself up for failure, consider giving yourself goals that you can achieve.

TIP 3. You are stronger than you give yourself credit for

Oftentimes, people find themselves struggling to handle things. They think the pressure is just too much for them to bear. Don’t give in to the pressure. If you keep doing the same things and not getting results, you can expect that you are going to keep failing. You have to experiment with different things and angles. As long as you keep trying different things, you are bound to end up succeeding at some point in time along the way. Keep persevering and you will eventually find what works.

TIP 4. Fake it a little

At some point in time or another, just about everyone has faked how successful they are. There is no reason why you can’t do the same thing. You don’t need to go out there and start lying about what you have achieved, but that you can act like you are already successful. When you act successful, it changes the way you view the world as a whole. It helps you to strive to be more successful and achieve the things you want in life. Having the right mindset can go a long way in becoming the entrepreneur you want to be.

TIP 5. Stop comparing yourself to someone who is already successful

Just because you know someone who is doing amazing, that doesn’t mean that you know the specifics behind their story. You don’t know what it is really like for them. Even when you think you know everything, you don’t. Allowing yourself to get sucked into the whole mess will only end up causing you to struggle. When you are at your lowest, you end up taking a lot of risks because you figure you have nothing to lose. It is at that point that you are probably going to end up taking your biggest leap of faith and end up succeeding.

This small dip often comes right before you are successful and hit it big. If you never hit your low point, how can you possibly appreciate the high points that are coming your way? No one just walks into an overnight success. You have to continue taking risks and striving to reach your goal. Otherwise, you will never get where you want to be in life.

By following the tips above, you can be successful. It is all a matter of saying to yourself, “I will never give up.” When you are able to get into the right mindset, you can truly achieve anything you want in life. Don’t beat yourself up if it doesn’t happen overnight. With enough time, patience and a willingness to keep on persevering, you will get where you want to be in no time at all. You are in complete control of your destiny. Make it a good one.

Hello. This is my first essay in scope of TOEFL test preparation on 12th of July. I need to understand where am I now. Please review and score.

Topic: The expression “Never, never give up” means to keep trying and
never stop working for your goals. Do you agree or disagree with this
statement? Use specific reasons and examples to support your
answer.

The world we live in is challenging and demanding. With population growth and increasing costs of resources, every individual is facing a pressure, be it an employment or self-run business. The pressure is bolstered with competition we have in modern life. Such competition heavily spurs the requirements life puts to us, therefore to compete successfully we need to excel ourselves. Excelling is only viable when we have a goal and work toward it.

One reason for constant effort on achieving a goal is self-improvement. When you put enough work into something, sooner or later you will benefit from it. For example, if a person devotes a lot of time into studying a foreign language and does it on a permanent basis, he or she can increase his/her ability to communicate with foreigners or, even, become an expert. In some situations, an ability to use foreign language can have direct pecuniary effect – business opportunities or higher salary. So, setting a goal like studying a new language and going for it is usually worth an effort put into it.

Another reason for being assiduous is commitment. Being committed to your goal disciplines yourself. If you have a clear vision of what your are aiming at, you can create a step-by-step plan how to achieve it. Once you envision your way to your goal, you can become a master of your life and create precise schedule of events and waypoints. Following such schedule can be austere sometimes, but this in fact trains your diligence.

So, taking into account that following your goal and working hard to achieve it, definitely improves personal qualities and makes a person more viable in today’s world of rising requirements.

Hi Mdenissov, welcome to the forum. I thought your writing was very good. You have an excellent vocabulary and made only a few errors in grammar and usage. I don't think your essay was quite on topic though. It seemed to be more about having goals than about never quitting. I think it is vital to stick very closely to the prompt, so overall, I would rate this a 4 out of 5.

The world we live in is challenging and demanding. With population growth and increasing costs of resources, every individual is facing pressure, be it [in finding] employment or [starting a] self-run business. {your sentence seemed unclear before - this is one option} The pressure is bolstered{"bolstered" is usually used for something good, that makes something stronger, not something bad like pressure} [by the] competition we have in modern life. Such competition heavily spurs the requirements {"spurs the requirements" sounds a little odd} life puts to us, therefore to compete successfully we need to excel ourselves. {"excel" is intransitive, you can't excel something else} Excelling is only viable when we have a goal and work toward it. {this introduction seemed a bit off topic and even your thesis sentence doesn't directly address the topic - I would expect to read some more sentences about goals and the thesis should include "quitting"}

One reason for constant effort [to achieve] a goal is self-improvement. When you put enough work into something, sooner or later you will benefit from it. For example, if a person devotes a lot of time into studying a foreign language and does it on a permanent basis, he or she can increase his/her ability to communicate with foreigners or, even, become an expert. In some situations, an ability to use foreign language can have direct pecuniary effect –{avoid using dashes in TOEFL essays - here I would use a colon} business opportunities or higher salary. So, setting a goal like studying a new language and going for it is usually worth an effort put into it. {this paragraph is more about setting clear goals that about sticking to a goal no matter what}

Another reason for being assiduous is commitment. Being committed to your goal disciplines yourself. If you have a clear vision of what your are aiming at, you can create a step-by-step plan how to achieve it. Once you envision your way to your goal, you can become a master of your life and create [a] precise schedule of events and waypoints. Following such schedule can be austere sometimes, but this in fact trains your diligence. {this paragraph seems to be more about the importance of being organized rather than not quitting}

So, taking into account that following your goal and working hard to achieve it, {no comma} definitely improves personal qualities and makes a person more viable in today’s world of rising requirements. {this is not a complete sentence}
